A combined FSP and reset control approach to improve the set-point tracking task of dead-time processes

چکیده
This paper presents a non-linear control scheme to deal with dead-time processes, specially for systems where fast closed-loop responses are required. The control scheme is based on the combination of two control strategies appeared in the literature to deal with dead-time processes, the Filtered Smith Predictor (FSP), which is a Smith Predictor (SP) including a filter to improve the robustness; and the PIþCI, a PI with a partial reset action on the control signal when the process output reaches the reference input. In the proposed strategy, the reset action allows to achieve very small rise times with small overshoots, improving the results from FSP. On the other hand, the use of the robust predictor allows to deal with the dead-time in a better and systematic way than the existing PIþCI solutions. The improvements of the proposed control scheme are evaluated through simulations and real experiments on an industrial heat exchanger. & 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Unified IMC based PI/PID Controller Tuning Approach for Time Delay Processes
This paper proposes a new PI/PID controller tuning method within filtered Smith predictor (FSP) configuration in order to deal with various types of time delay processes including stable, unstable and integrating delay dominant and slow dynamic processes. The proposed PI/PID controller is designed based on the IMC principle and is tuned using a new constraint and without requiring any approxima...

متن کاملA Comparison of Different Control Design Methods for the Linearized CSTR Temperature Model
Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) has particular importance in chemical industry. CSTR has usually a nonlinear behavior which makes it difficult to control. The reactor has two parameters: the concentration and temperature of mixture both of which are uncertain. This case of CSTR has large disturbance in domain. In order for disturbance rejection, a controller has to be designed. In this p...
متن کاملControlling Nonlinear Processes, using Laguerre Functions Based Adaptive Model Predictive Control (AMPC) Algorithm
Laguerre function has many advantages such as good approximation capability for different systems, low computational complexity and the facility of on-line parameter identification. Therefore, it is widely adopted for complex industrial process control. In this work, Laguerre function based adaptive model predictive control algorithm (AMPC) was implemented to control continuous stirred tank rea...
متن کاملStatistical Analysis and Optimization of the Yield Strength and Hardness of Surface Composite Al7075/Al2O3 Produced by FSP via RSM and Desirability Approach
In order to improve the properties of aluminum and its alloys, some various approaches (e.g. reduction of grain size, addition of alloying elements and composite manufacturing) have been considered. Among all these processes, the use of solid-state processes such as the friction stir processing (FSP) is highly convenient to create surface composites at temperatures below the melting point. Ther...
